The United States is experiencing a severe workforce shortage crisis. Today there are not enough skilled technical workers to meet the demands of our changing economy. The shortage of skilled workers is particularly problematic when you examine the low numbers of skilled women in certain science and math fields.

Women make up 50% of the population, but they are not well represented in jobs requiring high level math and science skills. By supporting the Expanding Your Horizons Network, your company helps ensure a diverse, and technically competent workforce. You can help increase the number of women in underrepresented science and math careers and help ensure that our workforce is ready to meet 21 century challenges.

A commitment to EYH will lead to a big future payoff for your corporation. Your company can be a leader and help support our on-going efforts. With your generous financial support we can:
  1. Expand our program from a one-day event to a multi-session program. We are already trying this in targeted cities and the response by the students has been overwhelming. The young women are interested in and want to attend more female focused events. Won't you help us, help them?
  2. Hold more conferences in more places. Currently some states have many conferences, while others have none. You can help us change this.
There is no minimum contribution to the Network to become a corporate sponsor. However, we are actively recruiting sponsors who wish to give donations of $5,000 and above.

We also accept in-kind equipment donations. We are also looking to increase our corporate volunteer pool. We need volunteers to lead and develop hands-on activities for our conferences and volunteer at our events.

Act now!

Please contact Stacey Roberts-Ohr, or contact the EYH Network office at (510) 430-2222 for more information.

About our current sponsors:

Intellectual Ventures (IV) will be working with EYH conferences in Bellevue, Washington and Seattle, Washington. Female inventors from their Washington offices will attend both the Seattle EYH conference and the Bellevue EYH conferences and lead several hands-on workshops focusing on the science behind innovation. IV will also be working with the Network to start a new EYH conference in the Washington, DC area.

Symantec logo

Synantec continues to partner with Expanding Your Horizons on a wide range of initatives. As part of their funding they host EYH conference coordinators yearly and bring them together for a day-long training seminar to help them led more effective conferences. Female volunteers from Symantec also lead computer themed workshops at many Bay Area based EYH conference, helping the girls learn more about cyber security what it's like to be a female computer professional. Symantec also provides funding directly to several Bay Area conferences.

Chevron is another one of our new partners. Funding from Chevron will be used to provide mini-grants to several Bay Area EYH conferences to help them increase their minority recruitment efforts. They will also lead hands-on workshops focusing on energy at the new EYH conference in Berkeley, California.

Avnet provides general sponsorship to support existing EYH conferences.
