About the conferenceExpanding Your Horizons (EYH) is a conference for girls in middle school. This day-long event will include hands-on activities in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). At the conference, girls will get a chance to meet STEM role models and learn more about careers in those fields. Our ultimate goal is to motivate girls to become innovative and creative thinkers ready to meet 21st Century challenges. |

Keynote speaker
Susan Shipman, Former Director of the Coastal Resources Division of the Department of Natural Resources
As Division Director Ms. Shipman directed Georgia’s Coastal Management Program, habitat protection, and permitting as well as marine fisheries management. She served as Chief of Marine Fisheries from 1984 to 2002, when she became Division Director. Mrs. Shipman was Georgia’s Administrative Commissioner to the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC) for 14 years, and represented the state on the federal South Atlantic Fisheries Management Council for two decades.
